Keystones of the Old Testament - Brenda Hall - 6th-8th Grade
This Bible class will explore the keystones found in the Old Testament starting with the book of Genesis. Genesis forms the foundation of the entire Bible, starting with  the man Adam in the garden and ending with the man Joseph in a coffin in Egypt. The first semester we will explore the creation, the fall, and the line of Adam. Then we will learn of the flood and the 3 nations that come from Noah's line and their significance. The need for a savior becomes more apparent and then students are introduced to Abraham and his family who receive the promises of God.  Students will discover the type of covenants in the Bible, understand the names of God as He reveals himself, learn the literary devices used in scripture, and make application to today through Building a Bridge activities. The first semester begins with God creating the world in Gen. 1 and concludes with God creating himself a new nation in Exodus. The first semester ends with a review the plagues of Egypt and  a study of the Passover  including a Passover meal in class.  Each student will choose an end of semester project to be presented in class.  The 10 Commandments and the Tabernacle will be the focus as we return from Christmas. Students will learn the significance of each item in the tabernacle and we will build a model in class. We will learn more about the priests God has called and then the offerings of Lev. 1-8. Next students will learn about those who call out to God, studying the Prayer of Jabez by David Wilkerson and then the Shepherd's Look at the 23rd Psalm by Phillip Keller.  The Bible also clearly points out the cost of disobedience. We will look at Jonah- a disobedient prophet and Sampson- a rebellious judge.  Students will also memorized Psalm 1. The class will wrap-up  on a positive note, studying several Psalms and how God reveals himself in these passages. Another end of semester project will be required.  Weekly assignments will include Bible and/or selected book readings, worksheets, charts and map pages. Students will need a 3-ring binder with 15 tabs and a NAS Bible for each class. Cost of the class is 10 payments of $35 with a one-time supply fee of $10 due in July and January.  This course will have enough material to count as 1 credit for high school.  Those that would like to complete the high school credit track will take optional tests/quizzes administered by parents at home. The cost will increase to $40/month for grading of these extra papers.  Mail registration form and tuition payments to: Brenda Hall, 2005 Shasta Ridge, Conroe, TX 77304. Brenda can be contacted at EBHall7@aol.com or cell phone (936) 443-9002.

Art 1 (Ages 8-11) Cindy Johnson - We begin with a short study of art history based upon the Cornerstone curriculum and Frances Schaeffer’s book, “How Shall We Then Live?”  We will study shifts in style from period to period to see art in the flow of history.  Students will learn that the changes in art indicate changes in worldview, and begin to understand how to be good judges of art.  In this class, this means we look at a lot of pictures of great art and discuss them.  Students always enjoy this and it doesn’t take them long to form and state their own opinions!   After this, the class is hands-on as we learn the basic elements of art: space, line, shape, texture, value, etc., and progress to color, learning more complex techniques.  We begin with pencils and progress to ink pens, then wax-based pencils and watercolor pencils. Students will learn how to see, and how to draw what they see.  The majority of their work will be from looking at real objects, copying great works, and using their imaginations.  There will be many surprises and games thrown in to keep them guessing and excited.   There will be weekly assignments.   Homework:  1-2 hours per week, depending on student’s personal interest.   To register, please fill out the registration form and send along with a check for $105.00 (see breakdown) to Cindy Johnson,  Five Catfeet Court, The Woodlands, TX 77381.  $45.00 = one month’s tuition  and  $60.00 = one semester supply fee.   All supplies purchased will be given to the students to keep; I will also have a short list of supplies for you to purchase.

Art 2 (Ages 12-14) Cindy Johnson Class begins with a study of art history based upon the Cornerstone art history curriculum and Frances Schaeffer’s book, How Shall We Then Live?  Studying art periods through history, we learn that changes in art reflect changes in worldview, and how to distinguish worthy art from bad art.  Students will begin with pencil and proceed to India ink with bamboo pens, then with brushes.  After this, students will work with dry pastels, proceed to pastel painting; and colored inks.  We will enjoy great paintings and sometimes copy them.  We will study the basic elements of art and continue on to color, balance, viewpoint, emphasis, and much more.  Students will learn to both draw what they see and use their imaginations.  This is a messy and very fun class.   There will be weekly assignments, and grading will be based upon completion of same, not upon artistic talent.  Homework:  1-2 hours weekly.  To register, please fill out the registration form and send along with a check for $110.00 ($45.00 plus $65.00 semester supply fee) to Cindy Johnson,  Five Catfeet Court, The Woodlands, TX 77381.

Pre-Requisites
: In order to take this course, it is strongly recommended the student have completed a first year biology course AND a first-year chemistry course. (Does not have to be Apologia)                     PURCHASE: Book set (text + solutions manual) & companion CD PLUS - Kapit/Elson The Anatomy Coloring Book,;                                            2011-12: The text covers both the anatomy & the physiology of the human body’s 11 organ systems in detail.  There are 16 modules, which translate into 32 weeks of work to cover in 30 weeks, so students will have a reading assignment to complete for the first class.  Combined with biology, the two courses together cover most of the "advanced placement" (AP) curriculum.  With some additional prep, such as Princeton's "Cracking the AP Biology" or "Cracking the CLEP Biology" study books, students can best prepare to take the biology AP or CLEP test.
In order to take this course, it is strongly recommended the student have completed a first-

In addition, there are coloring book exercises that contain detailed drawings of all of the anatomy the student needs to learn in this course.  Dissections for this course include a cow’s eye, a cow’s heart, and a fetal pig.  Additional dissections are added to enhance the curriculum.
The Human Body: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made! contains three kinds of labs:
